The ceremony of transferring the work of Russian artist Ekaterina Vorona to the collection of the Vatican Museums took place at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Vatican. The painting of Ekaterina Vorona "Facciata della Basilica di S.Pietro" made using the "Pastel on Canvas" technique was chosen by the curators of the Vatican Museums led by director Barbara Yatta. In 2019, Ekaterina Vorona hosted solo exhibitions in Rome and Spoleto, where the artist's work attracted attention. According to Yatta, the work of Ekaterina Vorona "Facciata della Basilica di S.Pietro" will replenish a rich collection of modern art, which contains works by Chagall, Rodin, Matisse. As the Russian ambassador to the Vatican, Alexander Avdeev, noted, the current ceremony complements a number of cultural initiatives. "A magnificent exhibition of the Vatican Pinakothek was held in Moscow, then the Tretyakov Gallery brought a unique exhibition to the Vatican, mutual acquaintance with work experience in organizing museum work, exchanges of archival documents," the diplomat recalled. “Relations between states are rich when they rely not only on economics and politics, but also on good cultural ties. Our relations with the Vatican have their own logic. After a number of cultural initiatives, the Vatican asked for the good work of a modern Russian artist to be transferred to their collection, and they themselves named a name. Ekaterina Vorona is an artist with a name, her own style, and this style adequately represents Russia." Avdeev said in an interview with TASS. He also noted the "wonderful atmosphere in relations between Russia and the Vatican, as well as between the Roman Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church, who have been rivals for centuries and began to collaborate through culture."
